Nici Wragge is one of Puddle Ducks' Super Teachers, as well as Programme Assessor, Puddle Ducks Tutor, STA Tutor, and she is also Puddle Ducks' in-house lifesaving and personal survival expert. She also still teaches Baby & Pre-school and Swim Academy classes for Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire.
Over the next seven weeks, we’ll be sharing with you a week in the life of Nici, focusing on one day per week. We’ll be learning about what she does on a day to day basis and how she spends her down time.
Day One – Monday 27th November
Today started like any other, up at 7am to start getting the kiddies ready for school and then we are off out at 8.30am.
I then headed out to meet my Franchise Manager and fellow Head of Teaching within Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire for our termly technical meeting. We have a lot to discuss today including trainee teacher updates, observations, new teachers, and planning for teachers either starting or returning from maternity leave. Also there is pool discussion regarding new and current pools, technical updates and forward planning for our return after Christmas. There is always so much to catch up on and to enable us to support each other in terms of where the Franchise is up to and where it is heading, so getting together is vital.
I leave the meeting at 2:30pm with a list of jobs to complete and start the school run!
On my return home I start to prepare for an ATV tomorrow (Annual Techinical Visit - each of our Franchisees receives this visit). Preparation can take up to an hour depending on what the Franchise would like, for example, tomorrow I will be teaching for them so I include prep for that as I know the pool well I can work out where and how I will teach my class. I also need to work through the reports for the visit and correlate the information from one form to another to ensure I fully understand the Franchise's teachers and support network.
Then it’s off to Army Cadets with my middle daughter. Pick up around 9.30pm and it’s off to bed.
