Nici Wragge is one of Puddle Ducks' Super Teachers, as well as Programme Assessor, Puddle Ducks Tutor, STA Tutor, and she is also Puddle Ducks' in-house lifesaving and personal survival expert. She also still teaches Baby & Pre-school and Swim Academy classes for Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing with you a week in the life of Nici, focusing on one day per week. We’ll be learning about what she does on a day to day basis and how she spends her down time.
Day Four – Thursday 30th November
Up again at 7am and the usual school routine takes place, which in our house either goes really well or disastrous! Today wasn’t so bad though.
I arrive back home at 9am, grab a coffee and sit down at my desk; this morning I have a lot of paperwork to get through. Firstly I have Tuesday’s ATV (Annual Technical Visit) report to write. Luckily the Senior Teacher has been very efficient in sending over her own paperwork on the observations she made, so I begin with this. Following this I complete the ATV report itself and close the engagement in my current list before sending everything over to Ali Beckman (our Technical Director). Completing the paperwork can take around 2 hours depending how many observations took place.
I grab a coffee and it’s on to ATV number 2. Firstly I need to send over the documentation from the Programme Assessment to Ali, then complete the relevant forms, as I was the only observer (not a quick job!). I complete the report and 2 hours later it has all been sent to Ali.
As a Super Teacher, we rely on the Senior Teacher (who has observed the teaching) to send over the relevant forms quickly, as we like to submit the report within 48 hours of the visit. There could be information requested from the Franchise to any member of the HQ team so we shouldn’t delay this. I have been fortunate this week that the Senior Teachers have been very prompt in doing this.
A quick lunch and I’m onto Shark (our bespoke software) printing my registers for today’s teaching session. I change my lesson plans over to this week's set and sit and prepare for the day. I start teaching at 4pm and have Swim Academy Levels 1-5 over 3 hours. I leave home at 2:45pm to meet my co-teacher and we sit and go through the plans together, working out what our aims are and what we would like to achieve from our children today, and then we start teaching!
I arrive home at 7:45pm and update my registers and children's swimming criteria from tonight and print my registers for tomorrow's lessons, dinner and bedtime!

Teaching with Puddle Ducks

Franchising with Puddle Ducks
Just like the children we teach, a Puddle Ducks’ franchise is completely unique. It’s an investment that allows you to do something you love and turn it into a profitable business.
All of our franchisees start off teaching in the water, so they can fully immerse themselves in the product and truly understand their customers. But ultimately, the aim is for you to manage a team of teachers, taking ownership of your own territory.
We’ll be there to help every step of the way. It’s up to you how quickly you go from dipping your toes in to diving in at the deep end.
