It’s nearly Charity Pyjama Week here at Puddle Ducks: teaching invaluable personal survival skills and raising money for CLIC Sargent - all while having fun!
What our Pyjama Week teaches:
If accidents happen, often it's when fully clothed. We strongly believe it's our duty to ensure that our swimmers know what it feels like to be in water while wearing clothes
Even just this short experience will help them to realise that even though they feel heavier, they can still do those all-important reactions of kicking to the surface, turning and reaching for the side
We do all of this while making sure your child has lots of fun!
Raising money for a great cause...
Once a year, we ask you, our customers to choose a fantastic charity to raise money and awareness for. This year, you and your Puddle Duck chose for CLIC Sargent.
Rachel from CLIC Sarent told us how the money we raise will help their team of nurses and play workers to support children, in Bristol & Bath, who have cancer, and their families.
After a child's initial diagnosis they will begin treatment at The Bristol Children's Hospital or RUH in Bath. CLIC Sargent give every family a grant of £170 to cover travel and parking at the hospital, hospital food and toys & magazines for their child and siblings. This takes the stress away of having to cover those additional expenses as families will spend long periods of time at the hospital.
A cancer diagnosis is overwhelming and life as you know it, stops. CLIC Sargent provides that much needed emotional support and helps families cut through the medical jargon when talking to the medical team about their child's treatment. The team visit homes and schools of their patients. They will talk to teachers to reassure them and they will meet with friends to explain what their friend is going through and that their friend is still their friend.
And when the worst happens they will offer grieving support. Rachel told us about a local family who lost their son to cancer. His parents said that the CLIC Sargent nurses had allowed them to be the best they could be for their son during a hugely difficult time.
Please, please help us raise our target £3,000 during this years Pyjama Week.
The Puddle duck who raises the most sponsorship will receive 8 weeks FREE lessons.
Here's how:
We will ask for voluntary donations of £2 per child to come to class in pyjamas (collected at the pool)
