Puddle Ducks Pyjama Week teaches invaluable personal survival skills as well as being lots of fun! These fun weeks take place three times a year in February, May/June and October!
You may ask, What does this have to do with learning to swim, and what benefit do our babies/children get from these classes?
Well, any good swimming school will focus on and invest a substantial amount of class time to not just helping you and your child to increase your levels of water confidence and to introduce and develop basic swimming skills in your little one, but also to teaching you and your little one great water safety skills, leading to personal survival skills (individuals learning to help themselves in the water) and ultimately life-saving skills (learning how to help others in difficulty in the water).
Our Pyjama Week gives all our swimmers a regular session to feel what it is like to be in the water with their clothes on. This provides an opportunity to practice learnt skills like jumping in and resurfacing, turning to the poolside and pulling themselves out, as well as floating to conserve energy, all while fully clothed.
Our teachers all believe wearing your favourite pyjamas, jumping in the water and completing activities is a novelty all children enjoy, and a memory that will stay with them – helping if they ever find themselves in trouble in the water.

In our Summer Pyjama Week, we tie into the STA’s Learn to Swim Week and we encourage all our swimmers and their adults to browse the materials that STA produce – including some very emotional stories about families who have experienced personal loss through drowning.
Pyjama day is not only a really fun event but a highly valuable safety exercise in helping my daughter understand how it feels to move in the water with clothes on. She loved the feeling of jumping into the water in pyjamas and practising the vital skill of clinging onto the side of the pool.

Every autumn sees our annual Charity Pyjama Week where we join together with other Puddle Ducks franchises and support a UK charity called Children's Hospital Pyjamas. Here we ask for a voluntary donation of a brand new pair of pyjamas that will be donated by the charity to local children's hospitals. Last year in 2023 we collected over 200 pairs of pyjamas and donated them to Bristol and Bath's children's hospitals.
Thanks for your support during pyjama week.
